Hose Reels & Spares
Fire Reels and Spares are contraptions used in fire fighting. A long collapsible hose is easily stored and handled, but when water flushes through it a sturdy reel is needed to control the hose and the strong water pressure.
Reels used in fire fighting are designed and certified for use in several ways. In fire fighting the kind and use of reels depend on the vehicle and the hose used. Some reels may be mounted on a truck while others are movable and transferable.
Booster Hose Reels- Are fire hoses which are spooled on booster reels. These hoses on reels are used for small fires, this contraption is connected to a booster tank. Since it is easily connected and disengaged, the booster hose may also be used for High Pressure Fog (HPF)- a suppression technique which puts out and cools flames and smoldering material.
Large Diameter Hose Reels- Larger than booster hoses, the Large Diameter Hose Reels has 4 or more inches of diameter. This hose uses the fire hydrant or engines and tankers as a source of water supply. Large diameter hose reels have a greater capacity in water volume and need to be stabilized by attaching it to the engine bed.
Rescue Reels- Rescue operations have proven to be difficult when done in inaccessible places. Rescue reels are cranked to hoist or pull up debris or survivors from hard to reach places. With the use of levers, a rewind capability and adjusting the hose by reel is faster than by manual handling.
Efficient and all-purpose equipment has made fire fighting and rescue more effective than before. Reels are functional and may be positioned in several angles which can be angled or positioned the way it is needed. Without the use of hose reels and spares, fire fighting is ineffective and crude resulting to deaths and huge property damage.
